Hi Phil
Here are the 2 different Bobbings with dimensions used on the 11R. On the RD the square section swinging arm needs more spacing to get the stand cups located. Both would work on the RB as they are the same thread.Trevor HughesKeymasterUnfortunately Martyn is not responding to any communication so I have approached another supplier. I will keep you informed.

I’ve just checked the parts book and my copy does not list bobbings for the RB only for the RC and RD. These do differ between the RD and RC most likely due the different Swing Arm on the RD. The RC part is Thread-Bobbin-Nut where the RD is Thread-Nut-Bobbin.
Trevor HughesKeymasterHi Vince

TrevTrevor HughesKeymasterHi Will
Unfortunately the company I worked with to manufacture these Tool Boxes and Air box covers is not happy with the result. They did produce these great prototypes which I believe are as good as the original but the guy was just not happy with the result because he could not get the hinge to work. I’ve spoken to him many times but still can not persuade him to produce any more. I now know of many owners who would like a tool box so I guess its time to see if we as a club can find another supplier.

TrevTrevor HughesKeymasterI believe I met this dealer some years ago when he had 2 RD’s one in his showroom and the other a very low mileage bike in storage. At the time I remember he described the low mileage bike to me but when I saw it I remember thinking it was not as good as he described. I do remember bubbling on the tank around the fuel filler. This may not be the same bike but it appears familiar.
To add an answer to earlier question: I believe there is a manufacture date code on wheels:
My RB wheels have 580 and 680. This I believe May and June 1980.
My RC front wheel has 1281. This I believe December 1981. Unfortunately I can not easily see the rear.
My RD wheels have 782 and 882. This I believe July and August 1982.I also have another front wheel to replace accident damaged wheel with 786. I bought this from a breaking CX Turbo, obviously July 86.

TrevTrevor HughesKeymasterHi Will
Welcome to R ownership.I have recently purchased a set of your gauge faces on Ebay, which I have yet to fit. That’s a winter project bu I have to say the quality looks great.

I’ve had an Odyssey PC310 fitted in my RB since 2005. The dimensions, length and width fit well within the standard battery box if you remove the plastic cushion, while the hight is considerably less than the standard battery. I extended the connection leads and fitted the battery in the bottom of the box but others have fitted packing under the battery. My battery has never been charged and I’ve never had starting problems due to battery after a winter off road. These batteries in the UK now retail around £120 while in 2005 I paid £85. At that time I purchased 2 and they gave me a little discount due to them being delivered to one address.

Right then, update time. Front brakes rebuilt now. New caliper pistons & seals. New MC piston assembly, new plastic reservoir, new rubber cover for over hose fitting at the MC and new fluid. Bit of a chew on initially as one brake line would not allow any fluid through it. Eventually took the hose off again and found a blockage in it. Bit strange as I thought I had proven the lines clear before the refitting. Anyhow, a thin piece of wire down the inside and problem sorted. So now the bike is back on its wheels and can be moved about again. As it was a nice day yesterday I moved outside for a bit. Very pleasant.

Glenn has been asking about replacement lines on his RB. The general feeling is to use stainless with black if you want original looking. I got mine from Busters, they just copied the original lines I sent and supplied lines with swivel banjos. If you look at Venhill they also offer stainless Banjo fitting that swivel this makes fitting much easier and worth having in my opinion.

Trevor HughesKeymasterAndy. I believe the wiring box on the GL and the R are the same part. It’s the lid that is different. The R has a flat lid.
the brackets may also be a different size, lyou mention some filing. Not sure what size forks are on the GL. However it looks like you have a successful solution. Unfortunately it’s difficult to get a picture without removing my fairing so best you take a look as SPA. With that said I can say the R has brackets with a 6.5cm rest down to the top yoke.Trevor HughesKeymasterThere’s a new one on EBay Germany 262866598254.
April 13, 2017 at 7:57 pm in reply to: Endurance Legends – Donington Classic Weekend 6/7th May #13137Trevor HughesKeymasterFirst outing of the new club Gazebo. I’m happy to put my bike on the stand Steve.
Trevor HughesKeymasterIn my view this is only good for parts. The left rest hanger has been repaired as well.
Trevor HughesKeymasterI have Stainless pistons in my RB, front and rear. Found a guy advertised in VJMC who manufactured them, just send him the old ones and he makes a copy. Mine were fitted just before the International TT meeting 2004 and I’ve had no problems. I also fitted stainless lines with black sleeves, try to keep standard look. They are a great improvement over the now 35+ year old rubber.
