Ok, now that my 1983 RD has done 58,000 miles I am thinking it needs a top end overhaul. New chains, valve grinding, piston rings and hone the cylinders. I know there has been much talk about availability of the discontinued rings but surely someone has found a workable answered. Where do I get them? I am assuming the pistons are standard size and I can reuse them.

Measure you ring gap once you’ve had the bores deglazed . .they may be within spec …could also be worth getting in touch with j e pistons in the states ..they gave me a very good price for two sets of 100mm custom rings for my tl1000..think it was $80 for two sets ..
