    Hi Glenn, Many thanks!
I’m hoping to get some parts ordered this weekend to complete the RC rolling chassis & be able to stop!
Then the work begins on getting the engine running which I have to admit because the bike has only covered 21 miles since it’s last MOT on 28th April 1994 I’m first of all not sure what I’ll be faced with when I open the carbs up!
    Cheers

Hi, I was a member of this club back in 1996 to around 2001 and owned CB1100RD, I am currently looking at a CB1100RB which is for sale at THE BIKE SPECIALISTS IN SHEFFIIELD, it was up for auction at BONHAMS, but did not sell I was reading in some of the CHATS on Facebook about that particular bike it was imported from spain in 2016 and stored since, it has an after market exhaust and the right hand side casing is of a CB1100F, apart from that it looks OK, anybody throw any light or any other information

Hi Adrian, I had a look at that bike at Stafford. It looks OK visually although it hast lost the exhaust, original indicators, and now has a 900F generator & cover (the R is different I eternally and externally).

I also noticed that the entire bodywork & tank have been repainted at some point.

At the auction £6,500 price it would be a cheap bike. However, why a bike showing such low mileage would require that amount of work & none standard parts struck me as odd…?

Hi all, I’m Martin, a new member in the UK Midlands. I have recently purchased an RB that has been standing for many years. it was imported from Germany in 2015 and not used since. I have just been through the registration process and will start the recommissioning process soon. I have heard it running but don’t know how it will ride , fingers crossed. there was an earlier post about brake seals, i always get mine from wemoto, they have a choice of suppliers and prices are good. I will be changing all of the brake seals during the recommissioning process. First job was to remove the German market “Fly off” side stand device, I’m planning to use uk speck side stand with the rubber flip up attachment.

I could use some parts, UK headlight and MPH speedo for example, if anyone has anything for sale. In future it will benefit from a replacement exhaust, the original is there but tatty.

I’m pretty hopeless with Facebook, never usually use it but apart from this site a I cant find anything. What am I doing wrong! Is there a whatsapp group? generally the on line activity seems much lower than I expected. I did e mail the UK midlands club contact but didn’t get a reply. Is there a new contact email?

I am also in the VJMC, locally most communication is through whatsapp and that works very well. Are there any other VJMC contacts out there?

I worked at Honda UK in the early 80s and was there when the 1100R was introduced. I always wanted one and am looking forward to using it this summer.

That’s enough for now, hope I have pressed the right buttons to get this published.

    Martin

Hope to hear from you and meet at some point.

Hi Martin and welcome to our exclusive band of enthusiasts. There is a Sales/Wants section on the website where you can post the parts you are seeking/selling that might unearth some spares. Interesting to hear that you worked at Honda in the 80’s – was that with the UK Racing part ? We are actively seeking racing records so anything you have will be welcome?
There are a few of us in and around the Midlands so hopefully we can meet up together soon..?
    Cheers.. Glenn

Hi Glenn, I worked in the Service department and our Quality investigation work shop was actually next door to the race shop on Power road (Opposite the main building at number 4). It was common to see the race team guys around the site and some used to stop by for a chat and coffee.

Unfortunately the Race team Manager at the time, Barry Simmonds, passed away last year. I had met up with him at old Honda staff reunions over the years but unfortunately that avenue is now closed.

I can ask the guys (I’m currently arranging this years reunion) if they have anything. What in particular are you looking for?

I will be at a few VJMC meetings in the midlands this year including Stratford Auto jumbles, Rugby bike fest and Founders day as well as CRMC, Donington superbikes and the Mallory festival. I know that the 1100 Club attend some of these.

I can be reached on martinjames101@hotmail.com, if anyone wants to arrange a meeting. I am also often to be found with other VJMC members at the monthly Huggys autojumble events at Mallory park.

    Martin
